Cool things to know about Denmark

In Denmark it's cool to be a kid. There are many things to do and children are welcome everywhere. Most restaurants have high chairs, except for the real expensive ones.

LEGO is Danish
LEGO is Danish and we have a big LEGOland in Jutland - just three hours by car from Copenhagen.

Danish Kids
At the age of 9 all Danish kids start learning English in School. At around 12 years they start to learn either German or French.

Bikes
Most children older than 8 years ride their bike to school. If you have a bike, make sure you bring it.

Books
Hans Christian Andersen was Danish. He wrote the fairy tales “The Little Mermaid” and “The Ugly Duckling”. Libraries are public and free of charge. But do not forget to return your books, CDs etc. on time – you will have to pay a fee if you do. The Libraries are very well equipped and lots of kids meet there after school.

Toy Stores
The largest Danish toy store chain is called BR. We also have Toy'R'us.

Movies
We have lots of movie theatres. But children movies are often synchronised in Danish. Most children movies can be found in the original version as well, but if you like to watch movies bring DVDs/Videos in your own language.

Sports
The number one sport in Denmark is football (soccer). Most kids play football. Second is handball but there are lots of sports to attend: badminton, table tennis, basket ball, ballet, gymnastics… you name it. The State supports most sport clubs, which makes it cheap to do sports compared to other countries. When you move here we will help you find the nearest club to your home of the sports that you like to do.
